K-Guard Heartland is fully committed to serving our local community. Whether we’re sponsoring a local youth sports team or volunteering ourselves, our entire team is passionate about giving back. From starting a club ourselves to being involved in local charities, learn all about how K-Guard Heartland gives back to our local community.
Kansas Youth Bass
K-Guard Heartland’s Owner, Travis Burch, developed a concept for his own youth organization to help local youth in our community. Kansas Youth Bass was founded with the idea to give kids a chance to get in the peaceful outdoors and get away from technology like cell phones and video games. Getting some fresh air and enjoying an outdoor sport while developing friendships and spending more time with their families can have a major impact on our local youth – they may steer further away from alcohol and drug abuse and depression.
Kansas Youth Bass is open to local youth from age eight all the way through high school and involves getting them and their parents outdoors for some good old-fashioned fishing to compete in local and neighboring state fishing competitions.

Big Slick
K-Guard Heartland is also involved with Big Slick’s Celebrity Weekend, a weekend-long charity event that raises millions of dollars each year for Children’s Mercy. Big Slick’s Celebrity Weekend includes a softball game at the Royals Stadium, an auction, a celebrity poker tournament, and other various fun activities. Each year, K-Guard helps sponsor the celebrity hospitality suite, a place for the celebrities involved with the charity event to unwind during their stay.
Children’s Mercy assists patients and families that are dealing with pediatric cancer by offering medical care to each child who enters their building and never turns a family away if they aren’t able to pay for treatment.
Since helping children is always a focus here at K-Guard, we love being able to support an organization that raises millions of dollars to assist in providing care to children and families at one of the top not-for-profit hospitals in the nation.
Wichita's Littlest Heroes
Another youth program that is near and dear to our hearts here at K-Guard is Wichita’s Little Heroes, an organization that focuses on helping sick children that have life-threatening diagnoses. WLH hosts regular events where families can celebrate their children and meet with other families who are going through similar situations at absolutely no cost to them. Not only do they provide free events to families with children diagnosed with a life-threatening illness/disease, but they also provide financial assistance, resources, a medical supply closet, and so much more. K-Guard loves being involved with WLH, a local youth program aimed at helping children.
Sponsoring Other Local Community Events
In addition to being involved with the organizations above, K-Guard also sponsors local charity golf tournaments, softball, fishing, and many other local community events. We strongly believe that giving back to our local community is the absolute best way possible to help those in need.
